How to write a couchsurfing request

Want to know how to write a couchsurfing request? Read on……

I am relatively new to Couchsurfing in that I have been doing it for just over 2 years now. Like most new things which become popular, some of the original members complain that its not as good as it used to be. I can’t make any comments on those claims but I know that I have received a lot of requests from people who, as far as I can tell, have spent no time reading my profile at all. This is annoying and also downright rude in my opinion. The purpose of the site in my eyes is to meet from people from around the world and not just as a free bed for a couple of nights. It has led me to put in a codeword on my profile. Failure to mention this when sending me a request will result in a decline.

Enough of the doom and gloom though, because every now and again you receive something like the following………

[well]Hi Damien (Penelope Chaser)

This is Jย and D. We are two Indian bachelors working/living in Scotland for the past 2 years. Which Work? I think no guess here – software engineers ๐Ÿ˜›

We always wanted to visit Ireland and never made it until this time. We are visiting Belfast, Coleraine this long weekend and need a stay for the Saturday night. All the hostels are filled up for that day and we booked hostels for next 2 days. We are more curious about GOT locations and so going towards North of Northern Ireland on Sunday ๐Ÿ˜€ (lol) .

Not as a praise, I did like your site and curious to know what does that mean.

As per your Bucket list, I smiles at the ‘Kabaddi match in India’ thing as many of our Indians would not have watched such a match. But I hope you will make it and we have an Kabaddi league going on every year in India.

About us and CS: We are neat, talkative, drink, story sharers and listeners. We assure we do not be of any inconvenience. Personally we have hosted many people at our home and this is the first time we might be HOSTED. (Hoping).

If you cannot host us – it’s okay and hope to meet in Belfast for any activity.

Thanks J and Dย [/well]ย

How could I refuse? This is how it should be done people!

This came a the perfect time! I’m actually getting ready to request my first hosting and wasn’t 100% sure how to go about it. Thanks for the tip!

Hey Sadie. You are welcome! From my perspective as a host, I want to know that people have actually read my profile and have an interest in meeting with me and not just a free bed!
